Top ranked Zolotoi Vek (13-5) recorded its fifth loss in Kirovograd on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Avantazh-Politekhnik (12-6) 90-89. Zolotoi Vek was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Timur Arabadgi (193-81) who scored 25 points and 4 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Roman Kozlov (191-90) chipped in 22 points. Avantazh-Politekhnik's coach Valentin Kulibaba used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Andriy Chayka (185-91) who recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds and center Anton Melnik (201-91) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Zolotoi Vek players scored in double figures. Avantazh-Politekhnik have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-6 record behind leader Zolotoi Vek. Newly promoted Zolotoi Vek still keeps top position with five games lost. Avantazh-Politekhnik are looking forward to face Khimik-2 (#4) in Yuzhny in the next round. Zolotoi Vek will play on the road against Zaporozhye and is hoping to win this game.
