Date: March 27, 2015
There was an upset when higher ranked ITU Istanbul (8-19) was defeated at home by bottom-ranked Mersin (6-21) 88-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Mersin. ITU Istanbul was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. American point guard Keddric Mays (183-84) helped adding 22 points. The best for the losing side was forward Umar Atin (199-94) with 14 points and American forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) scored 11 points. Four ITU Istanbul players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mersin maintains eighteenth place with 6-21 record. ITU Istanbul lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Mersin will face higher ranked Meliksah (#6) in Kayseri in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
