Regular Season Round 28: Meliksah - Mersin 85-80

Everything went according to plan in Kayseri where sixth ranked Meliksah (17-11) won against bottom-ranked Mersin (6-22) 85-80 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mersin trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 24-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-85 at the end of the game. American point guard Leemire Goldwire (182-85, college: Charlotte, agency: Two Points) fired 27 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Forward Hadi Dogan (200-86) chipped in 15 points. Five Meliksah players scored in double figures. American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 31 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Keddric Mays (183-84) added 21 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Meliksah maintains sixth position with 17-11 record. Mersin at the other side stay dead last with 22 lost games. Meliksah will face ITU Istanbul (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin will play against Pertevniyal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
