Regular Season Round 29: MBC - Art.Dragons 83-76

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (12-18) defeated 10th ranked Artland Dragons (14-16) in Weissenfels 83-76 on Friday. Artland Dragons were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 28-20 charge of Mitteldeutscher BC, which allowed them to win the game. Artland Dragons were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Frantz Massenat (193-92, college: Drexel) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 4 assists. Serbian power forward Djordje Pantelic (204-84) contributed with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Cypriot power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Interperformances) answered with 5 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Guido Gruenheid (208-82) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Artland Dragons. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mitteldeutscher BC moved-up to twelfth place. Artland Dragons lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will face again higher ranked Artland Dragons (#10) in Quakenbrueck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
