Regular Season Round 42: Juventus - Mazeikiai 75-77

Bottom-ranked Mazeikiai managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the seven-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Mazeikiai edged fourth-ranked Juventus in Utena 77-75. It looked good early as Juventus took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mazeikiai had a 20-17 second period charge getting the lead and Juventus was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-77. Mazeikiai made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Evaldas Saulys (195-93) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. American-Samoan point guard Rashaun Broadus (180-84, college: BYU, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Edgaras Stanionis (194-88) added 13 points in the effort for Juventus. Juventus' coach Dainius Adomaitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Mazeikiai maintains eleventh position with 4-34 record. Juventus at the other side keeps the fourth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with P.Zvaigzdes. Mazeikiai will play against higher ranked Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Juventus will play on the road against Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai and hopes to get back on the winning track.
