Regular Season Round 1: Ezerunas-Karys - Mazeikiai 73-74

Another exciting game took place in Moletai where Mazeikiai (1-0) edged by one point Ezerunas-Karys (0-1) 74-73. Ezerunas-Karys was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Ezerunas-Karys won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiai made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game, while Ezerunas-Karys only scored four points from the stripe. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Kostas Jonuska (196-92) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Andrius Juknevicius (192-92) answered with 16 points and 7 assists and point guard Evaldas Rastenis (184-89) added 13 points in the effort for Ezerunas-Karys. Ezerunas-Karys' coach Arnas Kazlauskas let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mazeikiai will play against Nafta-Uni. (#11) in Klaipeda in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ezerunas-Karys will play on the road against Lietkabelis-2 in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
