Regular Season Round 1: Braunschweig - Brose Bask. 63-79
Date: October 4, 2015
Braunschweig was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Bamberg 79-63. The game was mostly controlled by Brose Baskets. Braunschweig was better in third quarter 23-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Braunschweig to just 6 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Latvian point guard Janis Strelnieks (191-89) contributed with 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) answered with 19 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Tyrone Nash (203-88, college: Notre Dame) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Braunschweig. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brose Baskets' next round opponent will be Crailsheim Merlins at home. Braunschweig will play against BBC Bayreuth (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
