Regular Season Round 3: Giessen 46ers - Brose Bask. 81-80

There was a surprise result when Giessen 46ers (1-2) edged at home Brose Baskets (2-1) 81-80 on Saturday. Brose Baskets were trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 23-15 charge of Giessen 46ers, which allowed them to win the game. Brose Baskets were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Nigerian-American power forward Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (206-85, college: Maryland) who saved his team from a defeat with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Brose Baskets. Four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. Brose Baskets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Giessen 46ers will face Phoenix Hagen (#15) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Brose Baskets will play against BG Goettingen (#16) and hope to win that game.
