There was a surprise result when Oldenburg (1-2) won against at home Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (2-1) 67-49 on Saturday. Oldenburg dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's 18. Oldenburg forced 22 Herzoege Wolfenbuettel turnovers. It was a good game for center Kai Haenig (205-88, college: Missouri Valley) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized FYR Macedonian point guard Armin Musovic (194-96) contributed with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Robin Amaize (188-94) answered with 13 points and point guard Tobias Welzel (183-90) added 4 points and 4 assists in the effort for Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Oldenburg will face SG Schwelmer Baskets (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play against Iserlohn and hope to win that game.
