Regular Season Round 4: Chemnitz - Keltern 71-75

DBBL top team - Gruner Stern Keltern (4-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (0-4) 75-71. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-17. But ChemCats Chemnitz won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gruner Stern Keltern made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. ChemCats Chemnitz was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by French point guard Magali Mendy (178-90) who scored that evening 19 points (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and forward Ana-Maria Kammer (180-86) supported her with 16 points. Four Gruner Stern Keltern players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by the former international center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop) did not help to save the game for ChemCats Chemnitz. American guard Sara Halasz (180-90, college: N.Mexico) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Gruner Stern Keltern have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Gruner Stern Keltern maintains first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Wasserburg. ChemCats Chemnitz at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Oberhausen and Osnabruck. Gruner Stern Keltern will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play on the road against SV Halle Lions (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
