Regular Season Round 5: Chemnitz - Bayer Giants 89-59

Date: October 17, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Bayer Giants (1-3) were crushed on the road by thirteenth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (2-3) 89-59 on Saturday. BV Chemnitz 99 looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Bayer Giants' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Nate Buss (206-92, college: N.Iowa, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and center Dennis Heinzmann (216-91) added 5 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Vechta and Hamburg. Loser Bayer Giants dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. BV Chemnitz 99 will face higher ranked Baunach (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against Baunach (#9) and hope to win that game.
