Regular Season Round 4: Elchingen - Saarlouis 78-72

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Elchingen (3-1) beat at home bottom-ranked Saarlouis (0-4) 78-72 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Saarlouis were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Thomas Spagnolo (201-91, college: Appalachian St.) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Lorne Jackson (188-90, college: Pepperdine) who added 16 points and 5 steals during the contest. Four Elchingen players scored in double figures. Elchingen's coach Dario Jerkic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Ricky Easterling (188-83, college: Bridgewater) responded with 32 points and 4 steals and forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Elchingen moved-up to second place in South, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Saarlouis still closes the standings with four games lost. Elchingen will face Fraport Skyliners II (#3) in Frankfurt in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Saarlouis will play at home against Speyer (#12) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
