Regular Season Round 5: Kirchheim - Hanau 78-61

Bottom-ranked White Wings (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-61 loss to seventh ranked Kirchheim Knights (3-2) in Kirchheim on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 53-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kirchheim Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to White Wings' 24. Naturalized Albanian guard Besnik Bekteshi (189-93) stepped up and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and American forward Dennis Tinnon (203-88, college: Marshall) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American forward Kruize Pinkins (201-93, college: USF) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Robin Christen (202-91) scored 20 points. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted White Wings still closes the standings with five games lost. Kirchheim Knights will meet ETB Wohnbau (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. White Wings will play against Dragons Rhoendorf and hope to get finally their first victory.
