Regular Season Round 4: Crailsheim - Ratiopharm 99-90

An interesting game took place in Crailsheim where higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (2-3) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (2-2) 99-90 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ratiopharm Ulm. The game without a history. Crailsheim Merlins led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-24 free shots (95.8 percent) during the game. Strangely ratiopharm Ulm outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 33-20 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Crailsheim Merlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. ratiopharm Ulm was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Konrad Wysocki (200-82, college: Princeton) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) who added 22 points and 5 assists during the contest (made all of his eight free throws). At the losing side American power forward Raymar Morgan (202-88, college: Michigan St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and international point guard Per Guenther (185-88) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Phoenix Hagen and Fraport SKY. Loser ratiopharm Ulm dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face Walter Tigers (#13) in Tuebingen in the next round where they are favorite. ratiopharm Ulm will play at home against Telekom Baskets and hope to win that game.
