Regular Season Round 3: Akademik PL - Chernomorets 100-103

A very interesting game took place in Plovdiv. It ended with only three-point home defeat of Academik Plovdiv (1-2) to Chernomorets (1-2) 103-100 in the fight for the fifth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Academik Plovdiv won third quarter 27-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Academik Plovdiv outrebounded Chernomorets 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 19 long-distance shots on high 54.3 percentage. Chernomorets players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Emil Binev (199-91) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Serbian power forward Bosko Jovovic (205-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and Vasil Mihaylov (202-94) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Academik Plovdiv. Four Chernomorets and five Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Chernomorets' next round opponent will be Beroe (#6) in Stara Zagora. Academik Plovdiv will play on the road against Cherno More in Varna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
