Minkov's double-double earns Final Four MVP as Vidabasket complete historic Bulgarian BBL double-May 17, 2026
Vidabasket capped a season for the ages on Sunday, demolishing Haskovo 97-78 in the BBL National Finals title game to complete the domestic double adding the national championship to the BBL Cup they won earlier in the campaign. The Vidin-based club were utterly dominant in the biggest game of their season, never giving Haskovo a sniff as they pulled away for a comfortable 19-point victory. Final Four MVP Damyan Minkov (197-F-2002) was the driving force once again with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, continuing the form that carried Vidabasket through the entire campaign. Finigan Walsh delivered another all-around gem beside him 15 points, eight rebounds, and six steals without committing a single turnover in a defensive masterclass. Georgi Kuchkov (190-PG-1998) orchestrated the attack with 14 points and seven assists, ensuring Vidabasket's balanced offense had too many weapons for Haskovo to contain. The victory put the perfect stamp on a historic season for the club from Vidin, a city on the Danube in Bulgaria's far northwest. The Cup and National Finals double achieved with dominant performances throughout both competitions establishes Vidabasket as the premier force in Bulgarian grassroots basketball and a program on the rise. |
