Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Saarlouis and bottom-ranked Speyer had identical 0-4 record. This time Saarlouis used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Speyer 85-73 on Saturday night. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Ricky Easterling (188-83, college: Bridgewater) who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Four Saarlouis players scored in double figures. Guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) produced 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Saarlouis (1-4) left bottom position moving up to ninth place in South, which they share with Licher Baeren and Wuerzburg. It was Speyer's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Saarlouis will face higher ranked USC Leipzig (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Speyer will play against Wuerzburg (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
