Regular Season Round 5: Randers - Stevnsgade 100-92 OT

6th ranked Stevnsgade (1-5) fell to seventh ranked Randers (1-4) in overtime by eight points 92-100 on Monday night. Stevnsgade trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 30-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to tie the game 85-85 at the end of regular time. But then they lost overtime period 7-15. Randers forced 21 Stevnsgade turnovers. Strangely Stevnsgade outrebounded Randers 50-28 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Stevnsgade was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Belizean point guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech, agency: R.H.Consultancy) orchestrated the victory by scoring 40 points (!!!). American power forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Mikael Nielsen (178-90) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Adrian Moss (204-81, college: Florida) added 20 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Stevnsgade. Four Randers and five Stevnsgade players scored in double figures. Stevnsgade's coach Mickey Dennis rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Randers left bottom position moving up to sixth place. It was Stevnsgade's fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Randers will face higher ranked Svendborg (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stevnsgade will play against Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
