Bakken Bears extend dynasty to 10 straight Danish titles with road clincher in Naestved-May 25, 2026
Bakken Bears clinched their 10th consecutive Danish basketball championship on Monday, beating Team FOG Naestved 87-81 on the road in Game 4 of the Basketligaen Finals to seal the best-of-five series 3-1 and lift the trophy for the 24th time in the Aarhus club's storied history. Coach Spencer Bowlin's side took control with a 29-22 third quarter that turned a tight halftime contest (37-38 Naestved) into a 66-60 advantage entering the fourth. From there, the Bears held firm despite Tyler Harris (175-PG-1998, college: S.Florida, agency: Helping Ballers)' valiant 34-point effort for the hosts, managing the closing minutes with the composure of serial champions to seal a six-point victory and the most prized prize in Danish basketball. Tymu Chenery (198-G, college: Binghamton) led the Bears with 20 points (9-of-13 from the free-throw line) and five rebounds. Captain Darko Jukic (199-G-1990) added 16 with six rebounds and six assists, while Shawn Shaquille Rombley (203-C-1996, college: LMU, agency: Slash Sports) was lethally efficient with 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, seven rebounds, and two steals for a game-high 22 efficiency. Duke Deen (173-PG-2001, college: Bradley) the Bears' leading scorer in the finals series had 11 with three assists, and Marcus Vinther chipped in eight on 3-of-4 shooting. Bakken's 11-of-37 three-point shooting (29.7%) and 71 percent from the free-throw line (20-of-28) provided the margin in a series where their depth ultimately overwhelmed Naestved's star-driven approach. For Naestved, coached by D.Pavlakovich, Harris was sensational with 34 points on 12-of-28 shooting and 4-of-15 from three. David Jean-Baptiste (195-G-1998, college: Chattanooga) added nine off the bench, captain alongside Victor Searls (206-F, college: Ohio, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) (10 and eight rebounds). Sean Trumper (201-F, college: Merrimack) had three points but a game-high 12 rebounds. Rollie Worster (193-G-2000, college: Nebraska) orchestrated with seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists. But Harris carried too heavy a load no other Naestved player reached double figures from the starting five, and the hosts shot just 21 percent from three (7-of-33). The series followed a dramatic arc. Naestved had stunned the Bears in Game 1 with an overtime victory, raising hopes of the first non-Bakken champion in a decade. But two convincing Bakken responses tied and then took control of the series before the road clincher sealed the title outright. Ten consecutive Danish championships. Twenty-four overall. The Bakken Bears dynasty has no equal in Danish basketball, and shows no signs of slowing. Eurobasket.com All-Danish BasketLigaen Awards 2026-May 26, 2026
