Regular Season Round 7: Trier - Nuernberg 70-62

There was a minor upset in Trier where higher ranked Nuernberg (4-3) was defeated by ninth ranked Gladiators (4-3) 70-62. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Gladiators dominated on the defensive end, holding Nuernberg to just 7 points in first quarter. They also forced 21 Nuernberg turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Gladiators' coach Marco van den Berg allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Michael Fleischmann (205-86) answered with 16 points and American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Nuernberg. Gladiators moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Nuernberg. Gladiators' next round opponent will be MLP Academics Heidelberg (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Nuernberg will play against Hamburg (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
