Regular Season Round 8: Chemnitz - Dragons 86-55

Bottom-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-55 loss to eleventh ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (4-4) in Chemnitz. The game was mostly controlled by BV Chemnitz 99. Dragons Rhoendorf was better in fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 held Dragons Rhoendorf to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.8 percent accuracy of the winners. BV Chemnitz 99 players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Dragons Rhoendorf's players. The winners were led by center Martin Seiferth (208-90, college: E.Washington) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and American point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) supported him with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by center Florian Wendeler (205-93) did not help to save the game for Dragons Rhoendorf. Forward Bastian Winterhalter (198-90) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Dragons Rhoendorf still closes the standings with eight games lost. BV Chemnitz 99's next round opponent will be MLP Academics Heidelberg (#10) on the road. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Nuernberg (#9) in Nurnberg and hopes to get finally their first victory.
