Regular Season Round 10: Jena - Nuernberg 86-64

ProA top team - Science City Jena (9-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Nuernberg (5-5) 86-64. The game was mostly controlled by Science City Jena. Nuernberg was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Science City Jena forced 21 Nuernberg turnovers and outrebounded them 38-22 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Science City Jena players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American guard Immanuel McElroy (194-80, college: Cincinnati) notched 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import guard Jelani Hewitt (188-91, college: Georgia South) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Five Science City Jena players scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso) did not help to save the game for Nuernberg. Center Erik Land (205-90) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Science City Jena have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Nuernberg at the other side dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Science City Jena will play against league's second-placed SC Rasta Vechta at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nuernberg will play against BV Chemnitz 99 (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
