Regular Season Round 8: Crailsheim - EWE Baskets 66-90

Date: November 14, 2015
Very expected game when 14th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (2-6) were rolled over at home by seventh ranked EWE Baskets (6-2) 90-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. EWE Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. EWE Baskets outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 42-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Slovenian guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. American swingman Shy Ely (193-87, college: Evansville) produced 17 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. EWE Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brose Bask. and Fraport SKY. Crailsheim Merlins lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. EWE Baskets will face league's leader ALBA Berlin at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
