Regular Season Round 9: Cherkasy - VolinBasket 100-71

Very predictable result when third ranked Cherkasy (6-4) rolled over at home bottom-ranked VolinBasket (1-8) 100-71 on Friday. The game without a history. Cherkasy led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to VolinBasket's 46. Cherkasy looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for Oleksandr Kobets (194-96) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 5 assists. Yevgen Balaban (198-96) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) answered with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Yevgen Koroviyakov (197-88) added 18 points in the effort for VolinBasket. Five Cherkasy and four VolinBasket players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cherkasy maintains third place with 6-4 record having five points less than leader Khimik. VolinBasket lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Cherkasy will face league's leader Khimik in Yuzhny in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. VolinBasket will play at home against Dynamo (#4) and hope to win that game.
