Not a big story in a game in Tuebingen where 12th ranked Walter Tigers (7-13) were defeated by tenth ranked Giessen 46ers (9-11) 87-78 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 31-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Aleksandar Nadjfeji (203-76) responded with 14 points and American guard Nick Russell (193-91, college: SMU) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers maintains tenth place with 9-11 record. Loser Walter Tigers keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Bayreuth. Giessen 46ers will meet at home higher ranked Bayern Muenchen (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Walter Tigers will play against Braunschweig (#8) in Braunschweig and hope to secure a win.
