Regular Season Round 11: Speyer - Elchingen 81-80

There was an upset when 4th placed Elchingen (6-5) was edged on the road by twelfth ranked Speyer (2-9) 81-80 on Saturday. Elchingen was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. American point guard Lorne Jackson (188-90, college: Pepperdine) produced 19 points and 5 assists and forward Brian Butler (194-91, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Elchingen's coach Dario Jerkic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Speyer moved-up to eleventh place in South, which they share with Saarlouis. Newly promoted Elchingen keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Speyer will face higher ranked Wuerzburg (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elchingen will play against USC Leipzig (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
