Rather expected game in Bonn where 9th ranked Telekom Baskets (10-10) were defeated by sixth ranked EWE Baskets (15-5) 85-77 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 24-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American Vaughn Duggins (190-87, college: Wright St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Eugene Lawrence (184-86, college: St.John's) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. EWE Baskets moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fraport SKY. Telekom Baskets lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. EWE Baskets will meet at home higher ranked s Oliver Baskets (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Telekom Baskets will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) and hope to secure a win.
