Regular Season Round 14: Trier - Kirchheim 62-79

Very expected game in Trier where 9th ranked Gladiators (7-8) were defeated by third ranked Kirchheim Knights (10-5) 79-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kirchheim Knights. Gladiators was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gladiators were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Richard Williams (177-87, college: San Diego St.) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Albanian guard Besnik Bekteshi (189-93) chipped in 16 points. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Brandon Spearman (190-91, college: Hawaii) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Gladiators' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kirchheim Knights have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Gladiators at the other side dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face Baunach (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gladiators will play against Hamburg and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the BBL just one year after relegation.
