There was a small surprise when seventeenth ranked BG Goettingen (3-9) won against at home 15th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (3-9) 79-70 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-70. BG Goettingen looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Khalid El-Amin (178-79, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 assists. The other American import forward Shane Edwards (201-87, college: UALR) contributed with 16 points for the winners. The former international forward Konrad Wysocki (200-82, college: Princeton) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) added 12 points and 8 assists in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BG Goettingen moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Crailsheim. BG Goettingen will face higher ranked EWE Baskets (#7) in Oldenburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
