Regular Season Round 14: Bayer Giants - Nuernberg 74-83

There was no surprise in Leverkusen where 15th ranked Bayer Giants (3-10) were defeated by tenth ranked Nuernberg (6-7) 83-74 on Sunday. Bayer Giants trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 25-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 74-83 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was center Robert Oehle (209-88, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Kevin Bright (196-92, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 16 points. Four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. Nuernberg's coach Ralph Junge used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) produced 17 points and his fellow American import guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. Nuernberg moved-up to ninth place. Bayer Giants lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Nuernberg will face White Wings (#14) in Hanau in the next round where they are favorite. Bayer Giants will play on the road against MLP Academics Heidelberg and hope to win that game.
