A very close game took place in Crailsheim between Crailsheim Merlins and BBC Bayreuth. Fifteenth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (4-9) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked BBC Bayreuth (4-9). Crailsheim Merlins managed to escape with a 3-point win 73-70 in the fight for the thirteenth place. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-70. Crailsheim Merlins made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins outrebounded BBC Bayreuth 40-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international forward Konrad Wysocki (200-82, college: Princeton) fired 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jake Odum (193-91, college: Indiana St.) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for lost side. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Bayreuth and Walter Tigers. BBC Bayreuth lost their third game in a row. Crailsheim Merlins will meet higher ranked s Oliver Baskets (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BBC Bayreuth will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#6) and hope to secure a win.
