Regular Season Round 13: Recklinghausen - Bochum 77-62

There was an upset when 4th placed AstroStars (7-6) were defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Recklinghausen (3-9) 77-62 on Saturday. AstroStars were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) stepped up and scored 24 points and 6 assists for the winners and American-Italian swingman Joe Scott (192-88, college: St.Thomas) chipped in 14 points. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Michael Haucke (210-85) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. AstroStars' coach tested ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Recklinghausen moved-up to eleventh place in North, which they share with Rist Wedel. Loser AstroStars dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Recklinghausen will face higher ranked Rostock (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
