BBL top team - Brose Baskets (13-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat thirteenth ranked BBC Bayreuth (5-10) in Bamberg 86-77. The hosts were already 17 points ahead at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 26-16 last quarter charge of BBC Bayreuth cut the lead to 86-77 at the end of the game. Brose Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to BBC Bayreuth's 38 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded BBC Bayreuth 35-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. International Daniel Theis (204-92, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. Brose Baskets' coach Andrea Trinchieri allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) with 21 points and the other American import guard Jake Odum (193-91, college: Indiana St.) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Brose Baskets have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-2 record. BBC Bayreuth at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Crailsheim. Brose Baskets will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BBC Bayreuth will play against BG Goettingen and hopes to get back on the winning track.
