Regular Season Round 17: Vechta - Gotha 88-63

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vechta. Second ranked SC Rasta Vechta faced 3rd placed Oettinger Rockets Gotha. Host SC Rasta Vechta (12-3) smashed guests from Gotha (11-6) 88-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Oettinger Rockets Gotha. The game without a history. SC Rasta Vechta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Oettinger Rockets Gotha's 32. They outrebounded Oettinger Rockets Gotha 38-21 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Filipino forward Christian Standhardinger (203-89, college: Hawaii) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: E.Michigan) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. American power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) produced 12 points and naturalized Spanish Gerard Gomila (194-95) added 16 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SC Rasta Vechta have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-3 record having five points less than leader Jena. Oettinger Rockets Gotha at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. SC Rasta Vechta are looking forward to face Koeln Rh.Stars (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against Finke Baskets and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
