Rather expected game when 6th ranked Koeln Rh.Stars (9-7) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Kirchheim Knights (12-6) 88-75. The game was mostly controlled by Kirchheim Knights. Koeln Rh.Stars was better in second period 26-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kirchheim Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Koeln Rh.Stars' 36. Kirchheim Knights players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Dennis Tinnon (203-88, college: Marshall) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and point guard Richard Williams (177-87, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Guard David Downs (188-91, college: Seattle Pacific, agency: Two Points) came up with 22 points and 5 assists and forward Aaron Jones (206-93, college: Mississippi) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Koeln Rh.Stars in the defeat. Five Kirchheim Knights and four Koeln Rh.Stars players scored in double figures. Koeln Rh.Stars' coach Arne Woltmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Koeln Rh.Stars keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Kirchheim Knights' next round opponent will be ETB Wohnbau (#11) in Essen and are hoping to win another game. Koeln Rh.Stars will play at home against the league's second-placed SC Rasta Vechta (#2) and hope to win that game.
