Regular Season Round 17: Nuernberg - Finke Baskets 88-65

Very predictable result in Nurnberg where ninth ranked Nuernberg (9-8) outscored 14th ranked Finke Baskets (5-12) 88-65. It looked good early as Finke Baskets took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nuernberg had a 27-12 second period charge getting the lead and Finke Baskets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-88. Nuernberg made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Finke Baskets turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Finke Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Robert Oehle (209-88, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Matt Vest (196-92, college: Wright St.) came up with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Chase Adams (177-88, college: Pittsburgh) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for Finke Baskets in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Nuernberg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Finke Baskets lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Nuernberg's next round opponent will be league's leader Science City Jena at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Finke Baskets will play against Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#4) and hope to win that game.
