Regular Season Round 23: Dzukija - P.Zvaigzdes 75-71

Bottom-ranked Dzukija managed to get a fifth victory on Saturday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked P.Zvaigzdes in Alytus 75-71. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But P.Zvaigzdes won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dzukija made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Jeff Robinson (198-88, college: Seton Hall) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: his fellow American import) helped adding 4 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Derrick Low (191-86, college: Washington St.) responded with 23 points and 6 assists and the former international swingman Steponas Babrauskas (197-84) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dzukija maintains tenth place with 5-16 record. Loser P.Zvaigzdes keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Dzukija will meet league's leader Zalgiris in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. P.Zvaigzdes will play against the league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
