Regular Season Round 18: CAB Madeira - Benfica 69-88

Leader Benfica delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked CAB Madeira (4-12) 88-69 in Funchal. The game was mostly controlled by Benfica. CAB Madeira was better in second period 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Benfica players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St., agency: Priority Sports) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. International point guard Tomas Barroso (184-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 15 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. International point guard Ricky Franklin (185-87, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) replied with 16 points and 5 assists and the former international Jorge Coelho (200-78) added 14 points in the effort for CAB Madeira. Four Benfica and five CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Benfica have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-1 record. CAB Madeira at the other side keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Benfica will play against Lusitania (#7) in Angra in the next round where they are favorite. CAB Madeira will play on the road against Vitoria SC in Guimaraes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
