Regular Season Round 16: Bochum - Rostock 86-85

A very close game took place in Bochum between AstroStars and Rostock. Sixth ranked AstroStars (9-7) got a very close home victory over 3rd ranked Rostock (10-6). AstroStars managed to escape with a 1-point win 86-85 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rostock. AstroStars made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Rostock's players. The winners were led by American Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and center Michael Haucke (210-85) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four AstroStars players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 5 steals by American guard Matthew Hunter (196-90, college: Cent.Conn.St.) did not help to save the game for Rostock. Naturalized American Andres Murillo (201-90, college: Biola, CA, agency: Octagon Europe) added 22 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AstroStars moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Art.Dragons. Loser Rostock keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Oldenburg. AstroStars will meet at home higher ranked Oldenburg (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rostock will play against Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck and hope to secure a win.
