Fifteenth-ranked Bayer Giants (3-17) made lots of trouble for first ranked Science City Jena (18-2) in Leverkusen on Saturday. The visitors from Jena managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 21-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Oliver Clay (205-87) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Wayne Bernard (190-81, college: Davidson) chipped in 16 points. Four Science City Jena players scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) produced 26 points and 8 assists and his fellow American import forward James Hulbin (203-90, college: Northwestern St.) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
