Regular Season Round 17: Recklinghausen - Schwelm 89-61

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (5-12) were crushed on the road by twelfth ranked Recklinghausen (5-12) 89-61 on Saturday. American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) stepped up and scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Joseph Kennerly (204-84, college: Cent.Oklahoma) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Domonique Crawford (196-84, college: Youngstown St.) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Mathias Perl (188-89) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Recklinghausen moved-up to tenth place in North, which they share with Rist Wedel and Schwelm. SG Schwelmer Baskets lost their sixth game in a row. Recklinghausen will face league's leader Iserlohn on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
