There was no surprise when 11th ranked Giessen 46ers (8-11) were crushed on the road by second ranked Bayern Muenchen (15-4) 88-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Bayern Muenchen. Giessen 46ers managed to win third quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bayern Muenchen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Giessen 46ers' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and naturalized Bosnian forward Nihad Djedovic (197-90, agency: Beo Basket) who added 19 points during the contest. Five Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bayern Muenchen have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Brose Bask. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers keep the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Bayern Muenchen will meet ratiopharm Ulm (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Giessen 46ers will play against s Oliver Baskets and hope to secure a win.
