Regular Season Round 18: Leipzig - Licher Baeren 77-72

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked USC Leipzig (10-8) won against at home 10th ranked Licher Basket (6-12) 77-72. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Forward Sascha Leutloff (202-82) notched 23 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Brandon Shingles (190-87, college: Morehead St.) supported him with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds by center Marian Schick (204-86) did not help to save the game for Licher Basket. Spanish point guard Nil Angelats (185-93) added 16 points. Licher Basket's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. USC Leipzig moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with Fraport SKY II. Licher Basket at the other side keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. USC Leipzig's next round opponent will be league's second-placed BG Karlsruhe at home and it may be the game of the week. Licher Basket will play against Saarlouis (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
