Regular Season Round 21: Jena - Baunach 66-54

ProA top team - Science City Jena (19-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eleventh ranked Baunach (9-12) 66-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Baunach. The game was mostly controlled by Science City Jena. Baunach was better in fourth quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Science City Jena dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Baunach's 20 and made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Science City Jena players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and his fellow American import guard Immanuel McElroy (194-80, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Daniel Schmidt (186-90) with 11 points and 5 assists and Lithuanian Arnoldas Kulboka (207-98) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Science City Jena have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-2 record. Baunach at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Science City Jena will play against Koeln Rh.Stars (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baunach will play against Gladiators and hopes to get back on the winning track.
