Very predictable result when tenth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (11-11) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-20) 78-70 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Dragons Rhoendorf won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Forward Greg Logins (203-88, college: Canisius, agency: HMS) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists during the contest. Four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Sterling Carter (183-90, college: Purdue) scored 13 points. Dragons Rhoendorf's coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to ninth place. Dragons Rhoendorf lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 20 lost games. BV Chemnitz 99 will face higher ranked Hamburg (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Bayer Giants (#15) in Leverkusen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
