Regular Season Round 18: Karsiyaka - Istanbul BSB 90-81 OT

Sixteenth-ranked Istanbul BSB (3-15) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked Karsiyaka (12-6). Karsiyaka managed to secure only nine-point victory 90-81. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Istanbul BSB won third quarter 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Istanbul BSB used huge pressure winning it 26-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-19. They outrebounded Istanbul BSB 46-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Istanbul BSB was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Bracey Wright (191-84, college: Indiana) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Deniz Kilicli (206-90, college: W.Virginia) with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Slovenian guard Jaka Klobucar (198-87) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Karsiyaka have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Istanbul BSB lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Karsiyaka will play against Trabzonspor (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul BSB will play against Besiktas (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
