The game between closely ranked teams ended with 16th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf's (2-21) road loss to fifteenth ranked Bayer Giants (5-18) 70-93 on Friday. The game without a history. Bayer Giants led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Dragons Rhoendorf's players. Dragons Rhoendorf was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Dennis Heinzmann (216-91) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. American point guard Sterling Carter (183-90, college: Purdue) produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Tim Schonborn (191-90) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bayer Giants maintains fifteenth place with 5-18 record. Dragons Rhoendorf lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 21 lost games. Bayer Giants will face higher ranked Hamburg (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against White Wings (#12) and hope to win that game.
