Regular Season Round 20: Licher Baeren - Dresden 71-96

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Licher Basket (7-13) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Titans (9-11) 96-71 on Saturday. Titans dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Licher Basket's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward David Sturner (206-90, college: S.Oregon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Center Marian Schick (204-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Simon Kutzschmar (193-96) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Titans maintains seventh position in South with 9-11 record. Loser Licher Basket keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Titans will face Speyer (#12) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Licher Basket will play against the league's second-placed BG Karlsruhe and will have a slim chance for a victory.
