Regular Season Round 20: Hertener Loewen - Recklinghausen 93-105

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Hertener Loewen (7-13) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Recklinghausen (7-13) 105-93 on Saturday. Recklinghausen shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Hertener Loewen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) who added 25 points and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest. American power forward Brandon Griffin (202-82, college: SE Missouri St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Eric Curth (193-92) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recklinghausen moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Hertener Loewen and Stahnsdorf. Hertener Loewen lost sixth consecutive game. Recklinghausen will face league's second-placed Herzoege Wolfenbuettel at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
