Regular Season Round 24: Dragons - Hanau 74-80

Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-22) lost at home to twelfth ranked White Wings (10-14) 80-74. It looked good early as Dragons Rhoendorf took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then White Wings had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Dragons Rhoendorf was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-80. White Wings dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Dragons Rhoendorf's 32. They outrebounded Dragons Rhoendorf 45-21 including a 45-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dragons Rhoendorf was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Robin Christen (202-91) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Miles Jackson-Cartwright (190-92, college: Pennsylvania) who added 16 points during the contest. Four White Wings players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-93) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted White Wings maintains twelfth position with 10-14 record. Dragons Rhoendorf lost eighth consecutive game. Dragons Rhoendorf at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 22 lost games. White Wings will play against higher ranked Hamburg (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
